W2 Sheep Company
W2 Sheep Company is located
near the cattle and wheat ranching community of Condon, OR. We
raise Teeswater, Gotland, and Wensleydale long wool breeds, whose fiber is coveted by the hand spinning
community. We diversified and also offer Cormo and CVM (colored
Romeldales) for the fiber artist seeking fine wool fiber. A dry
climate helps produce an outstanding fleece with less grease and vegetable matter contamination. Further branching out, we recently added club lambs to our resume with some
Hampshire/Suffolk ewes joining the production herd. We have shipped
fleeces world wide.
We are fifth generation cattle
ranchers in Gilliam County where there is less than one person per square mile. Growing up we always kept a
small band of sheep to keep the barnyard vegetation under control. I began knitting at five years of age and was
always intrigued by spinning wheels. When our last child left home, I decided I needed some me time and with my
background growing up raising sheep, I began this journey to raise the best fiber possible for
handspinners. We live in the house my husband's step-great
grandmother built when she operated a ranch running several thousand head of sheep during the era when the wool
buyers from the Northeast would come to the ranch to buy wool. Things have changed a bit since then, but we
share her goal of producing the best fleeces possible for the market.
